History
The South Side cocktail has a mysterious origin, with multiple theories about its creation. Some believe it originated in Chicago’s South Side during Prohibition, where bootleggers used mint and citrus to mask the harsh flavours of homemade gin. Others trace it to the Southside Sportsmen’s Club on Long Island, a prestigious gathering place for wealthy elites.
