History
The Long Island Iced Tea widely believed to have been created by Robert "Rosebud" Butt, a bartender at the Oak Beach Inn in Long Island, New York, in 1972. He reportedly developed it as part of a contest to create a new drink using triple sec, and his version quickly gained popularity. Despite its name, the Long Island Iced Tea contains no actual tea, it’s named for its resemblance to iced tea in colour and taste. The drink became famous for its high alcohol content (around 22% ABV) and is often associated with college parties and strong cocktails.
