History

The Kentucky Mule is a variation of the classic Moscow Mule cocktail, created in the 1980s and swapping vodka for bourbon whiskey to give it a richer, more complex flavour. The Moscow Mule itself originated around 70 years ago and quickly gained popularity, leading to regional adaptations like the Kentucky Mule. The defining ingredients of a mule cocktail are ginger beer and citrus juice, not necessarily vodka. Bourbon, which is primarily produced in Kentucky, brings a depth of flavour that vodka lacks, making the Kentucky Mule a favourite among whiskey lovers.
