History

The Frozen Blue Hawaiian Cocktail is a variation of the Blue Hawaii, a tropical drink invented in 1957 by Harry Yee, the head bartender at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, Hawaii. A sales representative from the Dutch distiller Bols asked Yee to create a cocktail featuring their Blue Curaçao liqueur, leading to the birth of the Blue Hawaii. The Frozen Blue Hawaiian is a blended version of this classic drink, incorporating rum, coconut, pineapple juice, and Blue Curaçao, giving it a creamy, tropical twist. Over time, it became a staple at beach resorts and tiki bars, offering a refreshing, slushy alternative to the original cocktail.
