Vodka Very Strong Halloween
Ingredients
- 25 ml Coffee Liqueur
- 5 ml Lemon Juice
- 45 ml Vodka
- 20 ml Coffee Liqueur
- 45 ml Vodka
- 5 ml Lemon Juice
Garnish
- Lemon
- Lemon
Tools & Glassware
- Mixing Glass
- Julep Strainer
- Bar spoon
Directions
- Chill the glass
- Add ice to glass
- Add ice to mixing glass
- Add the vodka and coffee liqueur
- Stir gently
- Strain into glass
- Spritz lemon oil mist once over the drink, then garnish with a lemon twist
History
The Black Magic first appeared in the Old Mr. Boston DeLuxe Official Bartender’s Guide in 1969. The drink's dark and mysterious appearance, combined with its name, made it a favourite for Halloween-themed parties. The Black Magic cocktail may have been inspired by the classic Black Russian, which mixes vodka and coffee liqueur. However, the addition of citrus elements like lemon juice sets the Black Magic apart, giving it a unique flavour profile. Additionally, the Black Magic cocktail has connections to tiki culture where the vodka is swapped for dark rum.
